Working on the farm

I the only relief all of us found was the time all of us spent in the cabins

When the kids were on Summer break all of us wanted to take them somewhere that would be a current experience. The two of us had done the whole theme park thing, a month at the beach, and even camping at a local mountain resort. The two of us found a current locale that would hopefully give them memories to last a lifetime, but the two of us flew to the midwest and didn’t tell them where all of us were going. I had packed all the usual attire for the stay and when all of us arrived at the dude ranch all of us were greeted by our guide for the week. The kids thought it was going to be cool at first. When all of us were awoken at several in the day to do chores, all that changed. They expected that all of us would be able to hang around, ride horses, and maybe do some fishing. Well, the experience all of us signed up for was more of a hands on holiday. They were going to be mucking stalls, grooming horses, and even harvesting gardens. A little hard work would build character. The guide told us that it was a family holiday so all of us all needed to work together. The two of us toiled away the afternoons working on the ranch and learning how much goes into making it work. Then, when the sun set all of us spent the night wonderful under the stars. The rest of the holidayers along with our family sat around a campfire and relaxed after our long day of chores. I the only relief all of us found was the time all of us spent in the cabins. At least each one was air conditioned so those precious minutes of sleep were spent comfortable. The aches and pains of the day seemed to melt away in the soft feather bed that was in our room, then my memories from that holiday will be centered around the comfort I found there, not in the smelly horse stalls that all of us needed to clean.
