I think it’s time to replace the furnace in my home

The heating system installed into my home is around twenty-four years old.

I probably should have replaced it eight years ago.

Although it continues to function, the equipment it showing signs of its age. I live in the northeastern part of the country, so the furnace is responsible for a long and heavy workload. The winter season tends to last between six and eight months, and the temperature often drops down well below zero. The furnace runs constantly, and it struggles to keep up with demand. There’s definitely less heated air coming from the vents. On especially cold nights, it doesn’t matter how high I adjust the thermostat. The heater can’t manage to provide a perfectly warm home. Certain rooms tend to be chilly and there’s uncomfortable temperature stratification. The furnace is gradually getting more noisy and adding dust and other allergens to the air. I worry a bit about safety issues, and I can usually expect to face at least one minor repair every winter. The lack of efficient operation and cost of repairs is beginning to add up. While a new heating system is quite expensive, I would save money in the long run. A modern furnace achieves AFUE ratings up to 98%, offers superior safety features and is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. I’ve looked into some of the models available, and I like the sounds of wifi connectivity and zone control. I could significantly trim energy costs by no longer heating empty rooms. I plan to call a local HVAC contractor this summer and get a free estimate for new furnace installation. I just hope my current furnace can finish out this winter.
