I have been an employee with this particular HVAC company for the past 18 months.
I like the job a lot.
It’s really close to my apartment and I get a company truck to drive. The owner of the HVAC company is retired, but his son is a great guy. He has been the acting manager for the past year. He recently decided to hire a few new HVAC technicians to work on Commercial boiler applications. We haven’t been able to work on commercial boiler applications for the past few months. The head of that division took a job with another company. We’ve been sending our commercial boiler projects to a sister company in the area. We have been losing a lot of business and the manager decided to hire some new technicians that specifically have commercial boiler experience. Two of those employees started working on Monday. I was really surprised when I immediately recognized one of the employees. She was in the same Army platoon as me, when we were both stationed close to the area. When she gave me a wink, I knew that she recognized me too. I didn’t get to talk to her until later that day when we met back at the shop for a company meeting. We started talking about the old days and ended up getting some dinner and drinks. She stayed in the army until recently, when she had an accident that required surgery. That’s when she decided to retire and pursue HVAC services. It was nice to see my old friend and I look forward to working with her in the future.
