I was so happy the other month when I picked up a book from the library talking about the various HVAC technology options we have these days.

It was actually difficult to believe that there were so many good heating and cooling options. We certainly have come a long way from just having the standard HVAC system in houses that was not especially energy efficient. All the time the HVAC systems are becoming more energy efficient. Even if you get a basic HVAC unit these days, it will still be far more energy efficient than what was available decades ago. I would say the HVAC I was most impressed with was geothermal HVAC systems. I read how they are very pricey to have installed, but they are worth it because the energy savings are huge. You actually will save more money with this type of HVAC system than anything else available on the market. The ductless mini-split HVAC systems are great too. I couldn’t believe that the technology existed where you didn’t have to worry about using ductwork. Before that, you would have to have a bunch of portable HVAC units to heat or cool the household without using ductwork. The radiant heated floors are incredible as well. I would love to have that type of heating system in my home because everything heats evenly and you don’t have to worry about using the ductwork. This allows for better air quality and you also don’t even hear the heating system, so it’s easier to sleep at night.
