Both of our parents are now in their 69s.
Since I live nearby, I try to stop in as often as possible and offer our assistance with anything they need done around their house.
It started with helping them put up holiday decorations a single year; now, I do everything from cleaning their gutters to mowing their lawn. The last thing I want is for a single of them to fall from doing a chore that I could have done myself instead. I also started increasing their Heating, Ventilation, and A/C filters for them every week. I get a giant pack in bulk from a close department store, then every one of us store them in their utility closet. This has transitioned into myself and others handling all of their Heating, Ventilation, and A/C needs, and calling to schedule the repair visits and seeing their plan for any malfunctioning. One source of frustration with their central heating and cooling plan is their electric oil furnace. It is connected to the air handler and uses the same air duct. The problem is how horribly inefficient it is to run, whether you look at the electricity costs or simply its effectiveness at warming up their home. This is precisely why so numerous people switch to radiant heat, bypassing any leaky air duct in the process. After a bit of consideration, I gave to spend our money to install radiant radiant heated floors in their condo last year. I figured it would lower their utility bills and provide them better joy from their indoor heating source. They both like the new heated flooring to death, especially knowing they can adjust it based on what room they’re in or what portions of the floor they want hot at any given time. The flexibility and efficacy of these radiant floors is simply unbelievable.
