The last office job I was working for wasn’t bad, but I had to set those people straight on a few things.
First of all, there were so many computers in the office that the place was always feeling entirely overheated.
When I was asking the bosses about the temperature control settings, they were talking about saving money on energy bills and they felt the temperature control settings were fine. That’s when I told them they were putting their computers at risk without enough A/C in the building. When I learned that they kept their computers running throughout the night as well yet shut off the A/C, I realized that was even a greater risk to the computers. I told them that they better turn off all the computers at night, not only to save money but to make sure they are not overheating and becoming damaged. Also they needed to turn up the A/C more during business hours. This would not only be great for the computers but for all the staff members working on those computers. They realized that I had a good point and decided to adjust the temperature control settings appropriately. People kept asking me what I said to the bosses to get them to crank up the A/C, and I let them know that it was for the sake of the computers which were a sizable investment for the business. Everybody thought about what I said and they thought it was a brilliant argument because the solution was beneficial for everybody in the working environment.
