My husband had taken the girls to a kickboxing competition while I stayed home alone for three wonderful days.
It was nice to be able to relax and do what I wanted to do without the girls constantly in my space.
However, on my first night home alone I was scared to death. I had heard something crash and fall and it sounded like someone was breaking into the house. I stayed in my bed for almost a minute and listen but I did not hear anyone moving around. Finally, I got up the courage to slip on my bathrobe and go investigate: but not before taking a small metal statue off of the shelf and holding it for protection. When I got into the family room, I discovered the source of the sound. It seems that our window air conditioning unit had fallen out of the window and into the livingroom. I still was not positive that a person had not push it in and so my nerves were still on edge. Several more minutes of looking around the house, inside and out, turned up no intruders. Finally I turned on the lights and looked the air conditioning unit over. It was pretty scratched and dented up. I doubted that it would work. There was no way I was going to get any more sleep that night so I stayed up browsing the internet looking for window air conditioning replacements. That’s when I came across ductless mini-split systems. They work like window air conditioning units but they don’t take up any window space and there is no chance of them falling in or out of the window. I think I just might surprise my family by having a ductless mini-split system installed before they get home.
