Uncomfortable in the Theater

I love the theater.

I don’t mean the movie theater, although I like those too. I like the kind of theater where plays are performed. I don’t like operas. In fact, I hate them. But a musical like Rent or Grease gets my blood flowing. And, I don’t enjoy just musicals. I even enjoy attending school plays. I used to perform in school plays and my mother often took us to the theater, so, the theater brings back memories. Unfortunately, my small town doesn’t have a theater, but a town thirty minutes away does. We enjoy going there in the spring and fall, but winter and summer shows are brutal. I don’t know if the problem is with the heating and cooling system at the theater or the employees moving the thermostat up and down, but, in summer and winter, that theater is never comfortable. The first time we went during winter, the theater was too cold. The second time, we bundled up for the show and the heater was up too high. We were really uncomfortable during the show and would have been even if we had dressed in layers. It must have been at least eighty degrees in that theater. We had the same situation during the summer. We went to a show in July and it was really cold in there, When we returned in August, it was hot. I don’t think the problem was the HVAC system, because both the air conditioning and heater obviously worked. Either way, we discovered that if the weather is mild outside, it is more comfortable in the theater. Winter and summer months, I just make do with the television.
