My neighbor is a grumpy old guy that complains about everything. He never has a smile on his face and he never has anything nice to say. He complains when the kids ride their bike too close to his driveway. He complains if someone parks their car too close to the front of his house. He even complained during our annual Christmas light celebration, because too many people were driving around the neighborhood to look at the lights. I should not have been surprised when he decided to file a complaint with the HOA about my window AC unit. Our neighborhood HOA is very specific with their rules. One of the rules states that we cannot have any AC units that are visible from the street. We have had an AC unit in the garage for the past three years, but it is usually hidden behind a hedge. Unfortunately, our gardener trimmed the hedge too low and now you can see the top of the AC unit. My neighbor decided to write a nasty note to the HOA, and now they sent me a warning. Since someone complained about the eyesore, we have to remove it from the property. I have to get rid of the AC unit until the hedges are tall enough to cover it. It could take a month or two or three months for the hedges to grow tall enough, It’s not even summer, so they grow very slowly. If my neighbor had not complained, then I would not be in any trouble. I really wish we had better neighbors with less time on their hands.
