UV Air Purifiers to combat coronavirus

I have been worried about the coronavirus since I first heard about it on the news (months before it became the huge crisis that we see today).

I know a lot of people say that they were worried “before” everyone else, but I really was.

I went out and purchased a UV air purifier for my home HVAC system. I had read about UV air purifiers before and knew that as soon as the coronavirus became a big deal here in the States, that they would sell out immediately. I didn’t want to have to rely on air filters- although, I did go ahead and purchase a 2-month supply of HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air filters) air filters as well. UV air purifiers are, essentially, a UV light is placed on the evaporator coils of your HVAC system to stop organic growths that can find home on the humid evaporator coils. Having a UV air purifier added to your HVAC system can be a pretty pricey endeavor, but I think your health is worth it. It’s important to do everything you can to improve the air quality- especially the indoor air quality- as much as you can afford to. I hope when all of this coronavirus madness passes that we look back and say, “we overdid it” instead of “if only we would have done more”. In unprecedented times such as this, it’s important to control what we can and, in my case, I am able to control the indoor air quality of my home and I implore you all to do the same wherever possible. If you cannot afford a UV air purifier, I hope you will at least consider replacing your MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) air filter with a HEPA air filter.
