Missing the Window Air Conditioner

My husband and I have a tendency to put off large purchases as long as we can, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t prepare for them.

We had known for years that we needed a new HVAC unit, so it was no surprise when it died last year in the middle of summer.

We had a little money saved up and we chose our new HVAC unit with care and made an appointment for it’s installation, two weeks away. I couldn’t go two weeks without air conditioning. It wasn’t happening. I could suffer through the heat of the day but I needed air conditioning to sleep at night. So, my husband and I bought a little window air conditioner from the local home supply store to get us through the next two weeks. I must say that I was really impressed. It was really easy to install and worked really well.It cooled off our room in no time. It was also quiet, giving out a low hum that I quickly got used to. And, I slept so good! After bearing the heat all day, I would take a shower and cuddle up under the blankets in my chilly bedroom, chilly from this simple hundred dollar window air conditioner. I think I got used to the low hum quickly, and it actually helped me sleep. I had never slept better, and haven’t since then. That was last year, and I still miss that window air conditioner. I have actually tried putting a fan in my room to hear that low hum again, but it didn’t work.
