Struggling through the first year in business

My wife and I went into supplier for ourselves just numerous years ago, however it feels savor a lot longer than that, and the first year of being open is the most perilous for any business, no matter how much of a “sure thing” you think you have.

The small storefront the people I was with and I rented has a high turnover rate, and the people I was with and I are the fourth contractor that’s been there in the last six years! It’s not a terrible location at all, it’s just that hard to establish a client base and get reliable income flowing in; My wife has a degree in business, and handles the storefront and the office, so I can focus 100% on Heating and A/C repairs, however she knows nothing about Heating and A/C work, and I think nothing about filing taxes and bills and insurance, so it’s an even division of labor.

I truly quite savor our job, now that I can focus just on the heating and cooling jobs and not have to worry about anything else; Recently the people I was with and I have had a surge in business, because a lot of people want to have their ventilation systems checked out due to the COVID situation. My wife had the method of promoting our free Heating and A/C inspection and quote in response to heightened tension and fear from the pandemic, then everyone wants good, clean air quality, so the people I was with and I are focusing on that, and then upselling to new, better Heating and A/C equipment when appropriate. Instead of focusing on making profit now, the people I was with and I are trying to build our client base for ongoing Heating and A/C inspections and labor in the future.
