The thermostat was off limits.

When I went to the hospital to visit my aunt, I was upset over how hot it was.

  • I was going to adjust the thermostat in the room, but there was a lockbox over the thermostat.

They had a small sign on the lockbox to let anyone who wanted to touch it, know that it was off limits. I went out to the nurses desk and asked if there was any way to lower the temperature in my aunt’s room. She said that the thermostat was broken because the visitors were always playing with it. There was a reason why they had a lockbox over the thermostat. I tried to explain that had she been in the room lately, she would realize it was almost ninety degrees in her room. The nurse told me she had been in the room and it was not that hot. It was not up to her to change the thermostat and if I wanted it to be changed, I had to talk to someone in the HvAC department. I tried to call maintenance, but no one was answering. I was told that there was no one available at that moment. About that time, the doctor came into my aunt’s room. He asked how she was feeling and he noticed how hot it was. He went over to the thermostat. He was livid about the lockbox. He finally had the HvAC tech up to the room. They removed the lockboxes and repaired the thermostats. I couldn’t believe a doctor would have that much pull over the HvAC technicians.
