I loved my new house, but I hated the mess my movers left behind.
I wanted to get as much of the mess cleaned up as possible and I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible.
When I got into the basement, I saw the mess they had left down there. Apparently I had forgotten to mark some boxes and they were put down in the basement and right by the furnace. While I was moving boxes, I saw that there was a small door by the furnace. I was really excited. I felt like I was on a treasure hunt. I expected there could be hidden treasure behind that wall. At the least I would find a hidden storage area that had trinkets. Maybe it was just where they kept the spare air filters. I didn’t care what was in that door, I wanted to get it open. I was a woman on the mission. I looked all over that part of the room. I knew the door was near the furnace, so the key also had to be near the furnace. I tried to pry the door open, but it was too tightly shut. I knew I had to find the key. I looked in the cubby hole where they left all of the booklets for the HVAC system. I also looked in a small stand that I found. I then saw a small cord that hung by the door. The key was attached to the cord. I was never so anxious or nervous about something. I went from anxious and nervous to extreme letdown. When I finally got the door open, all I found was brick that was part of my foundation.
