temperature controls device makes me fiddle MORE with HVAC

I wonder about everyone’s addiction to technology these days.

Is it really such a healthy thing that we’re always making something new? Sometimes it seems like people are way too enthusiastic about new gadgets before they really have a chance to experience the utility.

It’s a trap that costs everyone a lot of time and money. This has recently been my experience, too. I thought I was doing a good deed for my heating, cooling, and ventilation system when I got a smart temperature control device that is supposed to manage my indoor heating, cooling, and ventilation system. Now, there’s nothing wrong with the HVAC – actually, the forced air furnace and air conditioning unit have always worked just fine. But, my central heating and cooling control plan has been using a highly outdated thermostat since I got the house. The plastic temperature control device never allowed for changes in temperature management without manually turning the dial. I also hated that my energy bills were extremely high from running the indoor air temperature control plan many days with no one home. I wanted to be able to change my indoor air temperature and air quality from anywhere, and that’s when I had a smart thermostat installed. The outcome has been… mixed. The app that is supposed to control my new thermostat doesn’t do a thing. No matter how many air temperature programs I make on the thermostat application, I always end up changing the temperature again from my phone. It’s so easy to make modifications that I can’t stop myself. And, as a result, my energy bills have actually increased.
