My wife made a New Year’s resolution last year to save enough money to get a new heating system.
- We talked about the different heating systems and we were unsure what we would get, but we had ideas about what we liked.
She loved the radiant heated flooring system which I thought was expensive. But I was sort of drawn to the geothermal HVAC system, which was actually even more costly than the radiant heated floors. The good thing is that with the geothermal heat pump, you get both heating and cooling as opposed to only heating, so I was looking at the bigger picture. Not to mention, with the geothermal heat pump, these systems can last as long as 50 years with proper maintenance. Some systems might die before their time, but still, you get your money’s worth for certain! So by the end of the year she finally talked me into going for radiant heated floors. The good thing is that this is a very comfortable heating system and you save a lot on the energy bills because of the energy efficiency. So we went for this heating system upgrade before the winter and it certainly has changed things in a good way. I can’t tell you how nice it is not having to walk around on cold tiles around the house, like the kitchen and the bathroom. My wife always said we had to do something about that, and she found the perfect solution, and I’m enjoying it. Still, a geothermal HVAC system would have been nice and maybe we can go for that in the future.
