My boyfriend has really bad allergies, so he sleeps with an air cleaning machine in his bedroom.
Most of the time we spend the night at his place, because he needs the air cleaning machine.
He spent a couple of nights at my place during homecoming week and he ended up sick and in the hospital. He had an asthma attack because the allergies were so severe. My upstairs neighbor has two cats in her apartment. Since then, we have spent all of our time at his place so he can use the air cleaning machine. Most of the time the sound of the machine does not bother me at all. I’ve grown accustomed to the humming sound and it is more like white noise than something that bothers me. Last night, however, the air cleaning machine was beeping half the night. It started around 2 a.m. and my boyfriend was totally asleep. I shook him until he woke up and I told him that the machine was beeping. He got up and hit a couple of buttons and the strange sound stopped. About 15 minutes after I finally fell back asleep, I heard that awful sound again. I tried to put a pillow over my head so the beeping wasn’t as loud, but that didn’t work at all. The machine continued to beep half the night. My boyfriend got up a couple of times to turn off the machine and start it up again, but neither one of us slept more than a couple of hours. That machine needs to be fixed before I go back there for another night.
