A Heated Encounter with a Great White

I like to go for a swim each morning in the ocean to wake myself up.

In the winter, the water temperature can get really cold which makes for an even better jolt of energy than in the summer.

I do what the navy seals do when they go into freezing water, they don’t change their rate of breathing and they maintain calm. It really does help make the plunge into cold water more enjoyable. Many people jump in and scream and breathe fast which only makes it worse. Try it sometime and you will see that it makes it more tolerable. The first thing you need to work on after getting out of cold water is warming up the body and getting comfortable. It’s a good idea to get in front of a nice warm furnace and heat the body up that way. I like to drink a warm cup of green tea to speed up the process. We had our air conditioning and heating unit serviced a few months ago by a really good HVAC technician. It was well worth the price because staying cold after a cold swim is a good way to get sick and end up in a hospital with pneumonia. I actually have two furnaces in my house, one in the living room and another in the basement for when we shoot pool on cold nights. We like to get them serviced before each season to maintain a regular routine. Don’t get me wrong though, I love nice cold air conditioning just as much as the heating.
