Need to be private but also offer light

Adding light to my living room hasn’t been easy.

  • I have windows but they don’t seem to let in any natural light.

The trees block quite a bit of it. My front door also had one small glass opening to see out of. I removed all the curtains from the living room windows and added more glass to the front door. It helped let in light and offered a great view, but not much privacy. I noticed that delivery drivers were always looking in the windows. I also couldn’t escape if they were coming to the front door. They saw me, so I had to greet them everytime. It got to be very annoying. I wanted the light, but I wanted to be left alone. The only solution was to add a window tint to the windows and doors. Now the living room windows look blacked out from the outside. Inside I can still see and get a bit of natural light. Adding the window tint to the front door was the best though. So now I can stand right on the other side of the door and the delivery drivers don’t see me. I can watch them scan the package, set it down and leave. They don’t even know I am there. I get to watch the whole process and be sneaky. For what I got, the cost of residential window tinting is worth it. I think blinds and curtains are no longer as practical. I also don’t want to lose the view and the light. So the next best step is to either do a window tint or a decorative window film. The window tint maintenance cost isn’t bad either.
