Dan had to protect the HVAC system during hurricane season

Hurricanes are a natural weather phenomena that many people fear.

When a warning goes up about an impending change of weather, many people start to prepare.

This is important because hurricanes lead to strong winds that can tear things apart including trees and houses. Hurricanes also lead to loads of flooding that has a negative effect on infrastructure. We have such a huge issue with hurricanes since we live by the coast. So, every time there is a hurricane warning, my dad and mom jump into action. Their motto is it’s better to be safe than sorry. They start to prepare the house for the impending harsh weather. And, dad even goes to work to protect the HVAC system during hurricane season. He always has a routine that he does each year and this has saved our HVAC system. Dad learned this from his friend who is an HVAC expert. He ensures he elevates the outdoor system when there are signs of bad weather. Keeping the outdoor unit elevated is the best way to prevent damage by flood waters. Next, my dad clips the bushes and clears all debris that’s around the HVAC system. Things like leaves and twigs are easy to blow around and end up clogging the outdoor unit. After clearing the debris, he covers and secures the outdoor HVAC unit. He has a special cover that protects the unit from rain water. Keeping it secure ensures the high winds won’t blow the outdoor unit away. So far, there’s been only little damage to the outdoor HVAC ever since we moved here. This is because dad is always cautious and protects the unit.
