The other day when the HVAC technician came over to the house to work on our electric furnace, I was super embarrassed when he took out the air filter. I had never really realized just how dirty an air filter could look whenever you took it out of an HVAC unit. I guess it’s just one of those things that you take for granted whenever you aren’t working on your heating or cooling system. I had not changed the air filter in my HVAC system for many months, apparently. It’s one of those things in my house that I just forget about on a regular basis. And honestly, I never think about my heating and cooling system at all unless it tears up. I really take it for granted! I guess you could call your heating and clean system the unsung hero of your home for the most part. It’s always there, working and running behind the scenes to give you and your family good indoor air quality, but you don’t really notice it unless it’s gone. Anyway, I was too embarrassed to tell the HVAC technician that I hadn’t changed the air filter in so long, so I lied. I told him that I had done it pretty recently. However, I think it was pretty obvious when he pulled the air filter out that it had not been changed since back in January. The HVAC technician just rolled his eyes when I said that I had done it recently. That thing was so full of dirt that it could probably have walked away on its own.
