I don’t mind getting my hands dirty when I’m working because my parents kind of taught me that when I was growing up.
My dad used to work as an HVAC technician whenever I was a kid and sometimes whenever I was out of school, he would take me along on different jobs with him.
Some of my earliest memories are of when I used to help him change the air filters in different basements all over the county where we used to live. Going into other people’s basements is something that can be pretty gross. A lot of people don’t take care of their basements and they don’t keep the area clean where their furnace is installed. So whenever you’re working on furnaces or air conditioning systems, you have to be able to stand a little bit of dirt and grime. I learned that from a young age, and so getting dirty while working has never really been a problem for me at all. I have done all kinds of manual labor in my life, from landscaping to road maintenance to heating and cooling repairs. Right now, I am working as an HVAC technician at a small HVAC company here in town and I really like it. It takes me back to my childhood, and since I learned a whole lot from my dad whenever I was growing up, the job has been pretty easy so far. The owners of the company are excited to have someone like me on the job because I don’t mind doing the dirtier jobs!
