I called someone as soon as the boiler turned off

My friends and I were staying at a hostel in another country while my associate and I were laboring on putting in wells for our church.

It was very cold in the country where my associate and I were putting the water wells and at night my associate and I all stayed in one room where there was a single heater. There was one iPhone inside of the building and the only place that you could call was the church supervisor. There were no buttons on the iPhone! You picked up the receiver and it automatically placed the call to the church supervisor. When the boiler shut off in the room, my friends and I went crazy. It got cold certainly fast and I tried to call someone as soon as the boiler turned off. I picked up the iPhone a couple of times and I could hear it ringing, but no one picked up. We continue to try to call someone for a while; Eventually my associate and I left the building and tried to search for someone on foot. It was really 25° outside and the ground was completely frozen. My friends and I walked about a half a mile before my associate and I found someone that had a iPhone. I did not know who to call and neither did my friends. Thankfully the guy came back to the hostel with us so he could call someone and understand where my associate and I were located. We did not have heat at all that night and I ended up wearing everything in my luggage. It was one of the worst experiences that I ever had and I have spent more than 5 years helping the church with mission work.
