Some people absolutely think the world revolves around them, & when their oil furnace or air conditioner isn’t working, you have to put all the people else on hold to rush to meet their needs; When you tell them that you will have to charge them more money to maintenance their HVAC device or that you won’t be able to get to their HVAC device until next week, they entirely lose their minds.
One of my least favorite parts about being an HVAC contractor is listening to people complain that I am not fixing their air conditioner or oil furnace fast enough for them. It is not just because I am an HVAC dealer. In fact, I have long believed that people felt way too entitled when it comes to things care about HVAC units! As an HVAC contractor for a local HVAC company in our mid-sized town, I am consistently receiving a call to maintenance someone’s oil furnace or air conditioner. Occasionally, it can take up to a week to be able to get to someone’s apartment to maintenance their HVAC unit. Inevitably, these people get honestly angry that they aren’t a top priority. Some people absolutely think the world revolves around them, & when their oil furnace or air conditioner isn’t working, you have to put all the people else on hold to rush to meet their needs; When you tell them that you will have to charge them more money to maintenance their HVAC device or that you won’t be able to get to their HVAC device until next week, they entirely lose their minds. When did the world become so entitled? Have modern HVAC units caused people to become so spoiled that they forget to think about others? Maybe modern culture has made them this way. Honestly, whenever someone treats an HVAC worker this way, it makes myself and others want to ignore their oil furnace or air conditioner for as long as possible. Nobody wants to help somebody who is being rude about something as small as an air conditioner.
