Contact Your HVAC Company Before Embarking on Household Room Addition

My partner and I are not averse to home improvement projects.

  • Our latest project was our first immense remodeling effort.

The system was pretty simple. We needed to convert our single car garage into a work-from-home office. We began the process by installing a new shed out back so we could relocate the garaged items. My partner spent various weekends moving all our belongings, such as bikes and lawn tools, out of the garage and into the new shed. Once the garage had nothing left in it, we picked out a new garage door. I picked out some actually cool, wood-looking cement as new flooring. After both of us installed the tile, both of us custom built 2 closets. One closet was basically built around our water heater and the laundry machines and supplies. We built the other closet along the entire side wall of the garage to deliver enough storage section for all kinds of stuff, and room for my office supplies. In the meantime, I reached out to our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C provider to see if they could send over a Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman to install ductwork and an a/c air vent in the new office. A Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman came installed the duct and vent as we requested. After he hooked up the ductwork, we were all concerned because there was not nearly enough cool air blowing out of the vent. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman said that there was some cool air blowing out, however it was the best that he could do with the HVAC system we had in place. If both of us wanted better air flow, he explained, then both of us would need the entire ductwork system rebalanced or we could get a separate a/c unit for the new room. I wished both of us had reached out to our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C provider sooner.
