HVAC in a motel and my complaints

Every time I check into a motel, the first thing I do when I walk in the room is set my bags down on the bed and turn on the cooling system, however most of the time that I first walk into my room, the cooling system is turned off and I must turn it on myself.

I am sure the business just keeps it off to conserve electricity when the room is not in use, and from my experience, motels only do this.

Hotels seem to have central a/c and heating so having to turn on the component is something I do not have to do there. I have not had the best luck with motels’ a/c units, so I try to be very picky when it comes time to choose a place to book for a one-night stay, weekend, or vacation. One time, my family and I took a road trip down south and it was a 17 hour drive one way. All of us all got so tired that the people I was with and I agreed to stop and stay at a small motel for the night so the people I was with and I could get a few hours of sleep. The motel the people I was with and I found had one room available. Thank God! I am sure the people I was with and I would have found a better motel if it were not so late and the people I was with and I were not so tired, but the people I was with and I settled for this one. All of us l gained our lesson. The first thing I did when I walked in the room was turn on the a/c unit… Not only do I need it to stay cool, but the noise itself helps myself and others sleep more soundly. I flipped the switch on, off, on, and off again and it was completely off. All of us had no luck in getting it to run and the people I was with and I were all just so tired, the people I was with and I just dealt with it and went to sleep. Otherwise, the people I was with and I would have had to find a weird motel since there were no other rooms available. That is the last time I stayed at a motel. Nine times out of ten, the a/c units in my motel rooms I have stayed in did not work properly. They either did not blow cool enough, they leaked, or they just did not even turn on at all. I will be sticking to hotels from now on for that reason.
