My grandfather was always working hard to split wood and my father would help.
It was a sad moment for me when I learned that my grandmother passed away. She had been doing her thing holding onto life long after my grandfather died. It was a difficult thing for her, but she kept up with being active in the community and she was regularly getting family together for numerous events. She was always the rock of the family and that showed. I also always enjoyed visiting my grandparents when I was young. It was great when they were both younger and we would get to see all our family members. It was always a good time hanging out with cousins and other family members. We always loved hanging around the fireplace at my grandparents’ house while watching old movies. My grandparents actually had a pretty good collection of movies, so it was always fun to watch with a huge bowl of popcorn. The other amazing thing was that the HVAC system was always kept up just right. Also there was a wood burning furnace hooked up which helped keep the heating bills low. My grandfather was always working hard to split wood and my father would help. So anyway, when my grandmother was gone, I went back to the old house to be there for the funeral. It was so crazy because I hadn’t been to visit the house for years. I kind of just got caught up with life and I felt so bad for not having seen my grandmother for so long. Seeing all the old family members again, it brought me back to my childhood hanging out with everybody at my grandparents’ home with the perfect temperature control settings and a fire going in the fireplace.
