Air quality at the gym contaminated by air conditioner

I spoke with the manager at the gym, explained my concerns and suggested they hire a licensed HVAC contractor to service the unit

I am very conscientious about my health and fitness. I don’t drink coffee, alcohol, soda or any sugary drinks. I don’t eat fast food, processed food, red meat or sweets. I make sure to get plenty of sleep and drink the recommended amount of water each day. Every morning, I spend at least an hour at the gym working out. I maintain a gym membership in order to have access to the variety of machines, equipment and group classes. The gym is located on my way to work in the morning. I get up extra early, complete my workout, shower in the locker room and then head to the office. Last summer, I struggled with health issues for nearly two months. Since I don’t have allergies, rarely get sick and take such good care of myself, I didn’t know what was causing the symptoms. I was constantly suffering from headaches, congestion, sore throat and itchy eyes. I sometimes felt a bit nauseous and frequently sneezed and coughed. I went to the doctor and got a prescription that didn’t help much. I finally realized that my complaints with symptoms were the worst in the mornings. By the end of the day, I felt significantly better. I figured out that my problems began when they started up the air conditioner at the gym. The cooling system was definitely polluting the indoor air quality. I spoke with the manager at the gym, explained my concerns and suggested they hire a licensed HVAC contractor to service the unit. Thankfully, he took my advice and had the cooling system professionally cleaned. Not only was there a noticeable difference in the smell and circulation of the air, but the manager told me that the monthly energy bills were nearly 10% lower.
