How can you live over a funeral home?

When I went to look at the apartment, I was thinking of renting; I didn’t know it was over a funeral home.

The thought of living in a building where they had dead people was a bit off-putting. It wasn’t the idea of the dead, because they couldn’t come upstairs. The smell of chemicals, flowers, and cleaning products wafting into the apartment, was what worried me.. I had been to enough funerals to know that the odors of flowers and chemicals were always in the air. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to have guests over. My one girlfriend was squeamish about going by a funeral home or a cemetery. I knew she would visit me if she could smell what was going on downstairs. There was a private entrance in the back of the building, and you wouldn’t even know what was downstairs unless you walked around front. When I got to the apartment, I was glad to find that the apartment had a clean smell. I asked the landlord if they had an air purifier. He told me they had an air purifier, and it worked right along with the heating and air conditioning. He didn’t want the apartment to go unrented just because of the odors coming from downstairs. Apparently he had a problem with renting this lovely apartment in the past. He said they had the air purification system installed at the same time they had the new HVAC system installed in the building. I took the apartment and I love living here. At least I don’t need to worry about noisy neighbors.
