Making my way in the HVAC industry

I was not the smartest kid in high school, that’s for sure.

I was very big, which made me good enough for high school football. A lot of my friends were the other jocks, but I never liked how they bullied the other kids. I was drawn to the outsiders, the dorks and geeks, and most of all the nerds. I lacked brainpower, but I was smart enough to recognize that, and to surround myself with the smartest people I could find. This ended up being the smartest thing I ever did in my life, because football didn’t turn into a career, but one of my smart friends made a killing in HVAC technology, and hired me to be his site foreman. I do not know anything about HVAC technology, of course, and no one expects me to. They hired me to manage the workers and HVAC techs because my friend knew I was loyal and he could trust me to keep them in line. I may not be smart enough to know HVAC but I can do math well enough, and I have arms big enough to keep people from slacking off at work. It’s what you would call a symbiotic relationship, I handle all the nuts and bolts of keeping the operation running smoothly, so they can focus 100% on the HVAC work. They can’t do it without me, I can’t do it without them, but working together we are responsible for the most high tech, responsible climate control systems money can buy. Not bad for a dumb jock, right?
