A special project for the HVAC company owner

My boss is well known as a risk-taker.

This entire company was started on a wing and a prayer, and $100,000 dollars borrowed from a local criminal.

That is the sort of lunatic I work for, a guy who will bet big when the right score comes along. In his case the business was well planned and funded, and he was able to quickly repay his debt. Ten years later he has seven locations, two of which don’t do any residential work at all, just industrial jobs. So I pitched him my idea for using drones to help us with the industrial HVAC jobs, and he gave me two weeks to show him it could work. I took my drone out to the abandoned shopping mall, and started out by flying it up to take footage of all the HVAC equipment on the roof. There were literally hundreds of air ducts, air handlers, and other machines littering the top of the roof, and I was able to map and identify them all on my laptop. What it would have taken a pair of HVAC techs all day to do, I managed to do in less than an hour. Next I traced the entire outside the shopping mall, mapping out all the air vents, exhaust fans, and drain pipes. By the end of the day, working by myself with just a laptop and a drone, I was able to come up with a very detailed map of the entire HVAC and ventilation system for the shopping mall, inside and out.
