The air purifier didn't arrive until after the ribbon cutting ceremony

I planned to open the bakery on the weekend of the 31st, but I had to reschedule until the following Saturday.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was scheduled for a month, but the air purifier didn’t arrive until several days after the scheduled date.

I ordered the air purifier from a local heating and air conditioning company. They came to the bakery to take measurements of the place so I had the right equipment to do the job properly. Every business needs an air purifier in order to be open during this pandemic. I expected the machine to be here before the opening day, but it was late. A couple days before the ribbon-cutting ceremony, I had to make a decision. I decided to cancel the grand opening and reschedule it for the next weekend. I knew that we could not open for business without the air purifier or we would run the risk of getting a citation from the county health department. A lot of people were upset and disappointed and several people still showed up at the time. I had to tell people the bad news and see the disappointed look on their faces. I know I lost customers that would have purchased bakery goods. The following weekend, I opened the doors to a very small crowd. I think having to reschedule the grand opening was a terrible way to introduce the business to the community. I’m really aggravated with the service I received from the air purifier distributor. They should be held accountable for the delay and the small crowd on opening day..
