Air conditioners in a new house should have thorough inspections

My husband and I got married last week after a major roller coaster of a relationship. Our wedding was perfect and I wish I could relive it over and over again! We moved into our new home this week and it’s been a heck of a ride. We have had so many inspections and contractors come out to make sure the place is ready for us. In the home history, it stated that the air conditioner had been replaced six years prior, so we didn’t think we would need to replace it when we moved in. During inspection, the technician noticed that the air vents were making really strange noises that could have been caused from a leak. We ended up needing to replace the air conditioner and fixing the roof leaf at the same time. It was a lot of money up front that we were not expecting, but the HVAC business gave us a discount since there was prior damage we weren’t aware of. Air conditioners typically last around ten years depending on the type of system and usage, so we technically should not have had to replace it for at least another four years, so we were really disappointed that our inspectors failed us. Next time I buy a home, I would make sure to have a licensed air conditioning technician come out to personally check the HVAC so that we don’t end up in that hole again. I guess this is just a part of the lessons you learn in life and in marriage. Hopefully next time we will be more prepared and ready for the challenge.
