I’m the only one in the family who controls the thermostat

When I went away on a company trip last week, I left my hubby with a bunch of things to do.

  • There was a list with a meal plan, a list of chores, and a list of household things that he should be aware of, however I trust my husband.

I understand that he’s a grown man who can take care of himself. But I wanted to make sure that he was comfortable and well prepared for me to be gone. There was one thing that I forgot to tell him about. That was about our thermostat settings… we have a smart thermostat and it controls the air conditioning during the hot summer months for us, so we want it to run as efficiently as possible. But I was the only one who downloaded the app to my cell phone when the smart thermostat was first installed. This means that I’m the only one in the family who has control over the settings via my cell phone. Both of us also have the smart thermostat settings locked so our children won’t change the temperature without permission. But when my cell left the property, the smart thermostat recognized this. It turned the A/C off. The smart thermostat didn’t know that there were other people home and I didn’t need as much cool air to keep me comfortable. My hubby didn’t realize what was happening, either. But then it was too late. I was already on the flight and the house got really hot. So when the plane landed, I had 15 missed calls about the air conditioning settings.
