When I was a kid, my dad used to fix everything that broke around the house.
He was really good at doing all kinds of things like that.
He could fix the heating system, the air conditioning, the cars, the appliances, the fireplace… really, he could fix just about anything that would possibly tear up around the house. It was great to have him around all the time because if my computer or something like that tore up, I would just ask my dad to fix it and he would have it up and running in no time at all. I guess I just naturally assumed that all men would be able to do things like that because whenever I got married several years ago, I thought my husband would be that way. I actually thought that my poor husband would be able to fix things like the refrigerator, the car stereo, and the thermostat unit when they tore up. Well, that ended up being a huge joke around here over the years because my husband actually can’t do anything like that at all. He’s the worst when it comes to fixing anything. When we first got married, I would actually get mad at him because of it. Poor guy, he had no clue how to fix anything. He finally ended up hiring a handyman to just have on call so that he could text him whenever he needed him to come over and fix something. I don’t know how to break this cycle, because I would like our son to learn to fix things but I guess I’ll have to let him learn from our handyman.
