Working from home saves the company money

While many companies are switching back from remote work to coming back into the office again, I plan to keep my company remote. One thing that I never anticipated when my employees went remote was how much money I’d save by not having to manage the office space. At first, I held onto the office space for a while. However, I didn’t have to keep the heating and cooling on all the time, so I immediately saved money on HVAC bills. I don’t think my employees realized that in working from home, they are spending more money on their heating and cooling. At the office, each employee had an individual thermostat for their office. Because they were not the ones paying the bill, they would blast the air conditioning in the summer and keep their offices warm and cozy in the winter. I wanted to give my employees the freedom to set their temperature preferences, but it wasn’t cheap. Since then, I actually stopped renting the office space and just let employees stay remote. Now, I am saving not only on HVAC expenses, but also on rent itself. I feel that my employees function just as well from home as they did in the office, so it has been an easy decision to allow them to work from home permanently. They are still free to control their heating and cooling, but it’s just not on my dime!
