The new plumber is a well trained woman

Some of my technicians feel threatened by the fact that I hired a woman to work in the plumbing business

A couple of weeks ago, one of my plumbers quit to move out of town. I knew it was going to take some time to find someone to replace the plumber. The guy was smart and competent with several years of plumbing experience under his belt. I looked at lots of different candidates during the interview process. I spoke with a couple of people that were impressive. None of them were as impressive as the woman that I hired. Sarah has been working in the plumbing industry for 20 years. The only reason she was available is due to relocating. The woman and her family recently moved to the area. She had two letters of recommendation from commercial plumbing companies that are very well known across the country. When I saw her resume, I got excited and called the woman for an interview the same day. She was friendly and knowledgeable. I asked her a couple of basic plumbing questions and she didn’t hesitate to give me an answer. I offered her the job during the interview and she accepted. Sarah started a couple of days later. Some of my technicians feel threatened by the fact that I hired a woman to work in the plumbing business. They absolutely should feel threatened, because Sarah can work circles around a couple of these guys. If I could make a clone of the new employee, I would get a lot more work done around here. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of what the new plumber has to offer.
