I don’t know if it’s better to be a jack of all trades or a master of one.
While the joke goes that the former is actually a “master of none,” I knew a few men from my grandfather’s generation who had mastered at least four or five major skills and trades.
I was always impressed by the knowledge and information they were always willing to pass down. My grandfather had a close friend named Billy who was a handyman. He worked on shipping docks, in roofing companies, and for building contractors. Between all of the jobs he worked over the years, he lived in at least nine different states for at least four years each. Needless to say, old Billy had some of the best stories of all and usually the richest advice to offer among all of my grandfather’s friends and associates. He’s the one who helped me greatly with the referral for my current HVAC supplier. My previous HVAC company was trying to charge me for services I didn’t need while attempting to get away with not completing tasks I was paying for. The new heating and cooling company is phenomenal with not just their pricing and reliability, but also with their customer service and the geniality of their employees. I feel comfortable when their technicians arrive at my house to service and maintain my central HVAC system. That’s why I was so excited when I learned that they had expanded into pool care and electrical work. Now my amazing HVAC supplier is also my pool and electrical company.
