My husband inherited an old house.
- I thought it would be an old apartment with a lot of charm, but I wasn’t sure that was the truth.
When I walked into the house, there wasn’t an Heating & A/C system, & the fireplace was ripped apart. There was no heating & no air conditioner unless you considered the hole in the wall & ceiling to be air conditioner. It absolutely gave the apartment a lot of airflow, however that isn’t what I wanted. I wanted to have heating & air conditioner, & not just airflow. The two of us looked through the house, & my husband had a lot of memories of being in this apartment with his uncle. The two of us talked about the house, & looked around for a couple of hours before the two of us left. When the two of us got home, he wanted to guess what the two of us should do with the old house. He looked so frustrated that I felt exhausting for telling him I didn’t care about the house. I told them the two of us could constantly mortgage our home, & use the money to make repairs & install an Heating & A/C system. Once it was repaired, the two of us could transport into the apartment & do the rest of the repairs needed. As long as the two of us had solid walls, a roof, & an Heating & A/C system, it would be straight-forward to remodel the house. He thanked myself and others for the offer, however said he would rather keep our apartment & sell the house. There were a lot of memories, however the apartment wasn’t worth all the labor the two of us needed to get it ready to live in.
