It’s getting so tough to keep from just lighting the household budget on fire and just giving up.
- Since the pandemic, I’ve gone through what seems like a hundred passes at the budget for our home.
But as soon as I think I have one nailed down, everything goes up again. The prices are sure rising but I’m sure not getting paid any more money to keep showing up inside the commercial HVAC of the office. It’s so disconcerting that I often go to bed thinking about our finances only to have finances be my first thought upon waking. That’s not the way it was supposed to work out. Yet still, I’m constantly looking for sales, coupons and any sort of way to save money. I’m cutting my own grass again and I’ve even started changing the oil in the cars. I’m still paying the HVAC professionals for the season HVAC maintenance. But I was recently considered an alternative to the HVAC company. A neighbor of mine uses a guy who is basically a handyman. I’ve seen the guy’s work as he put on a nice deck for my neighbor. And at nearly half the cost of a contractor. This handyman also takes care of the HVAC equipment. I considered calling the guy to have him start looking after mine. I’m glad I didn’t because it wasn’t a week after that initial thought that I saw the HVAC company van at my neighbor’s house. Turns out, the handyman didn’t quite know what he was talking about when it came to HVAC service or HVAC repair. I’m so glad that I stuck with the HVAC professionals and I won’t be tempted by that again.
