Don’t balk at HVAC replacement

When the realtor told me I’d be making a mistake by listing my house without new HVAC equipment, I thought she was being a bit dramatic. There were so many things are her list when it came to selling our home that I felt overwhelmed. For sure, we wanted to cash in on this hot market, but I didn’t envision paying out thousand and thousand of dollars. So we listened kindly and thanked her for her time. I remember walking back into the central air conditioning of our home listening to my wife give voice to my thoughts. She thought the air conditioning felt great inside our house. And I did too. The HVAC equipment had been taken care of consistently with HVAC maintenance for the past 14 years. And it was in great shape. So why in the world would we get rid of that HVAC unit? I mean, at the minimum it had a good six or eight years at least. So when the next realtor said the same thing and then the realtor after that said the same thing, we had to rethink our position. Finally, we had a look at some comps and did the math. For sure, we had to have the latest in residential HVAC and HVAC technology. So I called the HVAC company to find out if we could donate the old heat pump to someone, it still had so much life left in it. They did indeed have a program where they refurbished working HVAC equipment and got it to people in need. That sure made us feel better. For sure, the thousands we spent on new HVAC equipment was worth ten fold coming back to us with the price we got.
