To everyone’s complete and utter shock, I have pulled myself into the 21 st century.
I have a smart phone which I don’t know very much about.
And I now have a smart HVAC thermostat for our home. I have to admit that it took so many years for me to even come to terms with all the tech out there. It was just so overwhelming for me. I’m in my fifties so, there was always plenty of tech to understand in order to keep doing my job. I wasn’t super motivated to spend more time with tech on my days off. This led to me being a bit stubborn about all the personal tech devices. The smart thermostat is something I should have installed years ago. The HVAC company we have used for years had a tech come out to install it just over a month ago. He showed me all the key features and how to use them. I must have had a blank look because the HVAC tech suggested that we just let the smart thermostat do its thing. This was something I was very happy to go along with. I certainly wasn’t all fired up about doing a bunch of programming on an HVAC thermostat. The HVAC guy said the thing will learn the patterns of the house and then manage the HVAC use off of that. He could not have been more correct. That thermostat figured our house out in like a week. When we are gone during the day, the temps rise but they are right back to where we like them upon our return. The house is just in the perfect comfort zone by the time I change out of my suit.
