Renting in Europe and owning a modular kitchen

When I was in Europe I jumped from country to country.

  • I also jumped from apartment to apartment.

The great thing about Europe is that most living places don’t come with kitchen appliances already installed. There is no fridge, sink or microwave jacking up the price of rent. What you do in Europe is a modular kitchen. It is a ready to build and install kitchen unit. It is easily transferable with all kitchen appliances built into a small block. My modular kitchen block had a grill on one side and a chopping block on the other. Underneath was a microwave and a few drawers. It was small and made out of cheaper material. But, I could move the unit wherever I went and I had everything a single girl could possibly need. I recently have moved to the states and my modular kitchen is no longer needed. In the US all the apartment rentals have their own terrible fridges, counters and microwaves. They are not as durable or as good of quality as the container kitchen I had before. The rent costs are so much higher too. I miss my modular kitchen in Europe. It is stupid of landlords to do this here. They are spending way more money on appliances nobody wants. They would not have to pay for upkeep or if one breaks either. It is easier to move out and clean up after I leave too. I am hoping someday the US gets its act into gear and starts behaving like European rentals. I like having all my own stuff with me.
