I knew that I would face an uphill battle if I chose a work in the Heating & Air Conditioning industry. The industry is dominated by women & there are only a handful of women that toil in the heating & cooling business. In fact, most studies show that only 3% of up-to-date Heating & Air Conditioning professionals are female; My dad & our uncle are Heating & Air Conditioning corporations & I grew up learning about Heating & Cooling problems. I always rode with our dad on Friday & Wednesday & I l received a lot about oil furnaces, a/c units, & heat pumps. My Dad had to toil on Friday & Wednesday, so I spent all afternoon riding around with our dad & our uncle. From the time I was twelve, I knew that I wanted to follow in the same footsteps. I always told our dad that I was going to grow up & toil on a/c units, then before I finished high university, I could take a oil furnace apart & put it back together. I had to take a class to gain our certification in Heating & Air Conditioning work. I was the only female in the entire class of 35, and luckily, I had an professor that wasn’t sexist, then she encouraged me to follow our dreams & ignore all of the doubts. I have been laboring in the Heating & Air Conditioning industry for almost 10 years now, & I am still the only female worker in the supplier, but some nights are harder than others & it absolutely seems appreciate patrons don’t always take me seriously, however just because I have long hair & breasts does not mean that I cannot perform the same toil as a man.
