Our child has always been a slacker, and each of us has had to yell at him multiple times just to get him to finish his regular responsibilities, such as changing the air filter in the heating and air conditioning system! I believed activities like changing the air filter were reasonable, especially since it is such an easy operation.
I mean, I took care of the more important things, like cleaning the outdoor a/c condenser unit, but our son has always been genuinely gifted…
He takes things up as if they were nothing. He learned how to play the piano and found it to be quite simple. He also learned how to play the guitar. He consistently enjoyed playing his music while the Air Conditioner was running. When he moved out on his own, I was proud that he was going to a fantastic school. I warned him to take good care of his HVAC system although he neglected it. When the Heating and Air Conditioning plan failed, he said he would just install a new HVAC system. I told him he had to be a professional to do something like that. He laughed at me and said that was nonsense. He said that anybody could do any task as long as they learned how to do it. I still insisted he was wrong although he chose to prove me wrong. He ordered a modern ductless mini-split and he installed the thing after it arrived. He even made an upgrade video that he posted online and he sent me a link so I could watch it. While he was kind of rubbing it all in my face, I was still proud of him for being able to do such fantastic work.
