Seeking for energy saving tips on the internet proves useful

When I was asking around for energy saving help, a buddy of mine asked me why I didn’t just go look on the internet.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of that myself and I did a quick search on my phone seeking different energy saving tips.

I wasn’t under the impression that I would find anything helpful, but I found a mountain of information. I couldn’t believe that I found all these energy saving tips for free too, I didn’t need a member subscription or anything. Now I’ve always known to put plastic up in the winter months, but I never thought to put caulk on air leaks. You are able to go around your home with a thermal gun in the hot and cold seasons to see if there is cool air leaking from your home or hot air in the winter. I discovered quite a few spots and I was able to caulk those leaks to make sure I had no more issue with leaks. I also learned to improve the insulation of my home to make my HVAC even more efficient. I learned that on especially hot days, it’s good to set the thermostat at a higher setting so you don’t overwork your cooling system. This will allow you to save as much as 10% on your energy bills during the hot season. I also learned something about ductwork. The ductwork accounts for some 30% of your HVAC system’s energy consumption, so it’s important to have those ducts sealed if they are leaking. You should have the ductwork system checked regularly and make sure the pressure levels are within the appropriate range. Taking care of the ductwork is a great way to lower your electric costs.
