I don’t know what to do to keep the garage comfortable during these cold winter nights, or during these hot summer days.
It’s a real challenge to find a common ground between no air treatment, or too much air treatment! I’ve come to accept that the air conditioning just can’t be maintained.
Well, that’s what I used to think, at least. My buddy at work told me about how he had a ductless mini-split system installed in his house, which he uses to cool down his basement. Since the rest of his house is kept cool via central A/C, there is no connection from that air conditioning system to his basement. So, to add air conditioning – and improve the air quality – he added the ductless mini-split system to his home. I figured that I could do the same thing for my garage, so I did! The investment up front was not too bad, and I was able to install the system myself over a single weekend. There were a few parts where I needed some guidance, but overall I found the entire process to be fairly seamless. And the rewards, oh how worthwhile they are! I used to only be able to take up to half an hour in my garage before sweating to death, or freezing to death in the summer or winter respectively. Now, I can be in the garage for hours at a time – all without issue!
