Bad luck leads to discovering health and fitness

I tend to believe that I am more a part of things than I am in charge of things.

  • This is an approach that has come to me after my life was drastically altered.

Call it bad luck or just what had to happen but, I found myself having to completely rebuild my life. This was due to a terrible car accident. Fortunately, I was alone and I lived through it. But the recovery has been nothing short of building from the ground up again. A big part of that path has been health and fitness. This was not really something that was a big part of my life before the accident. I was far too busy and far too engaged in controlling outcomes to go to a local gym of all things. Well, that sort of approach did die in that car. And the new approach is less about controlling outcomes and more about being available to life. When you have to learn to walk all over again, that has a very humbling effect on a person. So when I wake up each day now, I have an earned gratefulness that I didn’t have before. I’m lucky to be able to go to the health and fitness center. I’m lucky to be able to put in the work with my personal trainer. Hopefully, the commitment to my health and wellness will allow me to regain all of my physical abilities. But if it doesn’t work out that way, I am still not ever going to stop going to the gym.
