Getting me time at the gym

Perhaps some people think that making a commitment to one’s own happiness is selfish.

  • I would argue that it is nearly impossible to help anyone else if you first haven’t taken care of yourself.

That is how I feel about the time I take each week to fulfill my health and wellness needs. For me, it’s about investing in myself a bit. When I feel good and I have energy, I am a better mother, sister, daughter and wife. Not to mention that I perform so much better at work. So, I find those hours each week to get to the health and fitness center. I have been doing this for nearly two years now and I have found it to be one of the best decisions that I have ever made. The biggest difference in this gym membership is the fact that I am not out there by myself attempting to figure it all out on my own. In fact, when I first got my gym membership, I immediately signed up for personal training and group fitness training classes. I knew from previous experience that going it alone would be a tremendous mistake. This is because when I have tried to do my own workout program in the past, I simply lost motivation and gave up on the gym entirely. Not this time, I am two years in and am still craving my time at the health and fitness center. Whether it’s the yoga classes, weight lifting or something really challenging like cross fit, it’s all about investing in myself.
