When I first told our family that I had plans to turn the basement into a film theatre, everybody didn’t believe me… When they realized I was severe about the project, they became certainly excited, then my child was asking a million questions plus I tried to answer them patiently.
- She wanted to know how the people I was with and I could possibly fit all the theatre seats in the basement.
I had to explain it wasn’t a full sized film theatre, however a miniature one that would be just for friends plus family. She was thinking that I was going to have some sizable addition added to the home plus the people I was with and I would have this enormous film theatre. Oh my, the imagination of children gets carried away occasionally. I explained how the people I was with and I would get a projector that would supply us with a high quality picture. Instead of getting one of those film theatre screens, I wanted to just put a fresh coat of white paint on the wall plus use that as the screen. I also thought it would be cool to put up some film theatre curtains to provide it a more authentic feel. I ended up doing all that plus I also set up a nice sound system. Then I realized I was missing the most important thing, climate control! There was no way that I was going to crank the cooling system in the whole home to make it nice plus cool in the basement, so I had a ductless mini split installed. Now the people I was with and I have energy efficient cooling in the basement plus an awesome film theatre. The first transport the youngsters wanted to watch was Jurassic Park.
